A letter to the weary
I see you, friend. I see how tired you are and how much you have on your plate. You move from one busy part of your life to another, and your to do list never ends. You itch for tasks to end, tied neatly with a bow, and your list cleared every once in a while. But you never quite reach this satisfaction. If this were the extent of it, I would still understand why you were tired.
But the world under our feet is growing hot. Forests and islands are on fire, animals are becoming extinct, livable areas of the planet are shrinking, and the world is a very dangerous place to exist for certain parts of the population. No matter how much you try to put these in a compartmentalized box, they’re still alive. And I see you, my weary friend. I know you have no place to set all of this down. I believe you when you say you’re tired and I want to remind you that you’re not alone. You’re not alone and you’re so loved.
The fact that you care is part of the reason you are so weary, and your heart is so deeply needed here. You cannot fix it all, but know that your presence and intention to impact the world positively has a ripple effect beyond what you can imagine.
Let’s go to a field together where you can temporarily set all of this down. Let it all just be here for a time. All of the thoughts, feelings and existential worries you’re carrying. It won’t make it go away, but maybe when we get back up, you’ll have a bit more ease in your step for some time. These feelings are sacred, because they show you’re listening. Of course it feels heavy if you’re looking at the world around us. You don’t need to carry this alone, and if you can find a home for these emotions, they won’t try as desperately to claw their way out.
Sending you so much love as you continue on in this wild, mysterious life, my courageous and weary friend.
