Big changes happening

If I were sitting down to have coffee with you right now, I’d have so many things to say and lots of questions for you. Grab a cup of coffee or tea, and let’s dig in!

I started my work with clients over a year ago as a career counsellor. While I still love this area and will continue taking on clients who want to work on career-related issues, I’ve expanded my practice considerably over the last couple months.

I’m now offering psychotherapy services beyond career counselling. I’ve opened more hours each week for new clients, and I’m helping people with a range of concerns, including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, stress, chronic pain, overwhelm, spirituality, illness, life transitions and more.

I’d like to share a bit about my thought process about this transition, in case you’re going through your own transition (business or otherwise). Because as I’ve shared a lot about intuition in my blog and on my Instagram account, this also came into play in a large way in this situation.

I’ve encountered some people over the last 6 months who were surprised to hear that I could help them since their issues were not career-related. I’m trained as a psychotherapist, but my marketing made them think that my practice in career-counselling wouldn’t help them. But actually, with my skills and practice style, it ended up being a great fit.

Although I do most of my practice online, I work with people in my smaller community. There are already limited mental health issues in this area, and I want to make sure that my psychotherapy practice is as accessible as possible. I want to reach people that are feeling overwhelmed and don’t know where to turn for help. I’m excited that my marketing moving forward will be less of a barrier for reaching people in my community.

Again, I love my work with clients regarding their career-related concerns, and this has felt like a good fit for my practice in a lot of ways. But I’ve also had this gut sense that I’m craving an expansion to other areas in my training, like illness and the mind-body connection (with my background as a physiotherapist). And working with people who are experiencing other types of life transitions. I put these gut feelings on hold while I held fast to the marketing and business training I’ve undergone in the last couple years. But there isn’t just one business formula that fits every business. And I’m excited right now to be making this transition that feels like a really good next step for me.

Wish me luck as I dive into this next chapter. If you know of anyone who is in need of a warm, open, accepting psychotherapist I’d be grateful if you could direct them to this website, and let them know I offer free consultations to see if we’d have a good fit.

I wish you all the best in navigating any decisions or projects in your life right now, and hope that we can sit down for coffee in person sometime soon.

With love,

Lauren
